Finally bought a 1999 Expy. Now I need to get it completely checked. Do I take it to Ford dealership or get an independent garage to do it. I live in NB, Canada. I have found that there is a quite bit of rust underneath and is there anyway I can get it sprayed or coated?

Thanks and any advice would be appreciated.

The Ford dealership will be more expensive and might be better quality than an independent, but sometimes independents are just as good and still have a lower price.

A garage is willing to do the undercoating but there is none where I live who can do the compressor and the suspensions because of the air suspensions. My compressor starts with a bang and I know it works as when I shut down the chasis is lowered and I presume it is raised when started. I was told only the dealership is able to check the suspensions.

You don't want to put undercoating over the top of rust IMHO.

I only have rear LLS, but it sould like you may have a leak if your truck sags/lowers when the key is off. I believe they are supposed to retain ride height, but I may be mistaken.

There is a TSB about making your compressor quiet, though I haven't done it (I know it's working when I can hear it!)

I owuld look at the service/owners manual and have a local garage do only those things noted.

I am taking it for a service and check this morning to a Ford dealership. I thought they were supposed to lower to make it easier to get on and get off. But you may be right. I will get them to check the suspension as well.
The undercoating, the garage says that this is a anti rust coating and it will penetrate any rust and for newer cars of 2002 and after the give a warranty but mine is 1999 so I dont get it. But they promised to clean the underside before spraying this stuff.

Well, Ford told me that my rightside rear axle seal was broken and leaking, my tire rods? was in a bad shape and need to change the left side front break pads.
But when I got it back the seat belt light would not switch off and now I have to take it back again tomorrow
