I'm gonna play devil's advocate and say the times from 2017-2018 are not jiving in my brain.

The expedition makes more power and is lighter than 2017.

Power to weight ratio is a real thing.... someone needs to remind that websites admin of this little factoid!

I think the 16-17 gen 1 ecoboost times were a little generous, in the real world they are closer to 7 seconds. 2015 is rated at 7 seconds and no changes were made from 15-17 on the powertrain. The 5.4L varies across generations because there were transmission changes and different heads.

Have not had anything new to add except went to DR to get my 73 year old butt recalibrated per your recommendations
EXPY still running great
Would like to hear from someone else who recalibrated their EXPY

Well, I just shocked meeself!
Traction control off
Auto stop off
Normal mode instead of Sport because I forgot
2 Hi also cuz I forgot sport mode which automatically chooses 4auto.

This is .01 slower than my best on 4 wheels in 1/4 mile, and yes I loaded the tranny this time to 2000 rpm.
Unreal, this thing is 100% stock except 93 non ethanol and about .25 of 23 gallons left on board!

I am sure my EXPY is at least a second quicker 0-60 than it was stock
So if you got 5.5 second 0-60 mph time I would say that does indeed support my seat of pants feel that mine is running 0-60 in the 4's
Have an Android phone (galaxy note 8) so could not use the item you do
BTW just found out 5 Star offers drivetrain warranties at extra cost
Must be pretty safe for them to do so

Not sure if my trip to the DR for butt recalibration will shed anything new however HA:33::emotions34:

That is a much more reasonable statement! You have previously stated 4 flat. I would question the 5.5 stock time. Wish we could get some definitive times for the different sizes, drivetrains, and trims

YES you can.

The device I have is Android friendly, I use it with my Android phone (Motorola Z2).
The OBDLink MX is Bluetooth, which is what I have and is easily had on Amazon for around $79.00 shipped.
The same company also sells other versions LX, WiFi, SX but I can only comment on the MX.

My original post may have been confusing, (call me Captain Obvious) but what I was trying to convey was, if you have an Apple product I-phone, I-whatever, it won't work with this device as well as many others. Apple users are assessed a premium from what I have been able to find, although I've not spent too much time trying to find a device compatible with Apple products, as only one buddy I know is loyal to a fault to that operating system.

Go here to their mother site, then purchase from your preferred retailer of choice...http://www.obdlink.com/

rain, rain, rain, go away,
my, oh my, how I would've loved to go to the strip today!!!
Or Saturday,
Or Friday!!!
I will be filming with my Sony AS200 mini camera, once I do get the opportunity, to hopefully show transparency. I'm sure there would likely still be a few who would proclaim I'm secretly "running a tune" IF - I come anywhere close to the results logged showing 13.67 1/4 mile.

The only thing the dragstrip won't confirm is the 0-60 time however, if my Expedition runs relatively close to the previously posted obdlink numbers at each of the intervals, 60' 330' 660' 1320', it would certainly not prove the 0-60 time of 5.5 were 100% accurate, but it also would not make them inaccurate either. Food for thought, either way.

I have a 4" catback exhaust "in the mail" and thinking of going with the jms boostmax + pedal max, rather than a true tune, mainly due to the limited options currently available for the Expedition.

I'm also a "click away" from a hugenormous intercooler swap, only tempered by the fact that it won't be a 100% plug and play affair. It should bolt up to the front behind main grill no problem, but it is not made to fit the 3.5 V6 only the V8. So I would have to plumb it to the V6 Turbos or I could buy the slightly smaller intercooler that comes as a complete kit specifically for the v6 and call it a day. Pricing would be about the same, but one is twice the size of the other, which leaves room for future tweaks, and would require some fabbing, the other complete turnkey, improvement over the OEM.

I won't install any of it until a proper few runs down the quarter mile have been done, with the vehicle as delivered, prior to any modification with documented weather conditions.

Unless he posted that in another thread, he certainly did NOT post that here. The following is a direct copy paste...I am pretty sure 0-60 times are close to 4 seconds but no way to verify it
Probably 1/4 mile in the 12's

He said close to 4 seconds, to me that's a mighty big spread...4.000-4.999 not to be confused with assuming he meant 4 seconds flat. I don't believe you were the only one to make this assumption either, but you were the first to admit it, which is great. People fear or dismiss what they don't understand, or have the desire to accept, due to any number of reasons. O.P. is just sharing his experience, to provide useful information for anyone considering using that specific company's product/service.

Unfortunately he is unable to substantiate some of the claims, with hard numbers. Is that reason enough to rag on him? I would hope not. The crap I posted via obdlink is also unsubstantiated, simply because there is no proof it is 100% accurate, I only use it to gauge changes in approach to a good launch, in preparation of a night of test and tune at the dragstrip. The readings from sensors should be 100% such as IAT, as but one example.

From that I've learned there's no reason to visit the dragstrip, UNLESS the temperature at 5pm is already less than 80 degrees F on a Friday evening.

Yes I do too
everything I have found never lists how the vehicle is optioned
Don't think I ever said my vehicle was running 4 flat but if that is what everyone assumed sorry
Think I said it felt close to my Taurus SHO which will 0-60 in the high 3's

@Mike Wolfe You do you bro! Don't let the naysayers get you down. I agree, a tune is the way to go!

From a layperson's point of view, an adapted octane tune sounds like the best option. I don't want to have to worry about fringe cases where I or someone else might put in something other than 91 octane. Are there any downsides to that kind of tune?

I have owned five 3.5L ECO Boost vehicles
All of them recalibrated with new software
Never had any trouble with them
Performance vastly improved & mileage a bit better as well
Never been a fan of 87 octane fuel either
Do not even use it in my lawn mower or anything I own with IC engine
91 octane in everything
Always loaded 93 octane calibrations to get max performance under all conditions
Knock sensors will correct any detonation anyway with 91 octane fuel
Will probably never take our 2018 EXPY to the dragstrip but can assure you it performs much better than stock:33::burnout:

Clearly your next vehicle needs to be a diesel! Gasoline will kill ya, plus it's the trash left over from refining diesel anyways.

No Diesels available in any vehicle I want at this time
If they (FORD) chose to put a diesel in the EXPY & it was calibrated to a performance equivalent of my Tuned 2018 EXPY then they would get my interest
I would be in favor of a diesel fuel made from organics instead of fossil fuels
Then it would be carbon neutral
