Faded Trim Panels

Finally got around to refinishing the faded side trim. Used Dupli-Color trim and bumper paint, dark charcoal. Matches original bumpers and running boards well.

They look great. Keep us posted on how long it lasts. I would think the running boards would show wear sooner because of getting in and out.

That makes more sense. I didn't think painting the boards was a good idea.

Carefully masked it off. As we know, It's all in the prep.

Ace59 - Just checking on the paint job on the faded plastic trim? I'm thinking of doing this and was wondering how it is holding up?

I had forgotten about this post. Going in I knew I would probably have to touch it up from time to time. I got almost 2 years out of the first treatment. Lots of sanded mountain passes in winter. The second time I started with the adhesion promoter. I found it well worth it. The pics are from this morning I will probably do it one more time once the winter tires are off as I plan on selling it this summer. Good luck

I I removed and painted my running boards with VHT Epoxy.
They came out great and have been through the car wash several times.
Also Start painting the cladding. Just did the front wheel arches with dupli-color.

I'm probably going this route or getting aftermarket running boards. Plan on having the truck repainted all one color and the tan boards would look odd.

I agree it's all in the prep!! I removed all my trim and bumpers and used the Rust-Oleum trim and bumper paint and its been almost a year and it still looks new.. I took my time and made sure I hit every little spot.. I washed with soap and water then used alcohol before applying paint.. Well worth every single minute I put into it..

RR99 - that turned out good.

I’ve never taken those trim panels off. But seems like every time I’ve removed any other piece of trim, I’m break off the mounting clips. Any tips for how to get them off an on safely?

I took off all the door panels and pushed the clips through from the inside.. 0 broken but i did order a new set of clips off Amazon because the casket like material that helps pull the cladding tight to the truck was pretty flat and and worn. I didn't want them to go back on loose and add to the rest of the rattles my truck has.. LoL
