Looks like fun. I've always wanted to go up to Silver Lake, I got a few buddies that take their jeeps up there a couple times a year but I've never made it up.

Pismo Beach/Oceano Dunes on the central coast and glamis dunes in the socal desert area. Not sure if you're north or south ca.

That far north you might be better off going up to Oregon. I know there's a beach you can drive on in norcal somewhere around fort bragg area i think.

There's a few nice river bars and such here, though. The last time i got sand stuck on the beach here they had to bring out a tank to pull me out...It would have cost me $700 if my insurance hadn't covered most of it...(their on-road journey there).
