That photo by the Ford Expedition Forum heading, it's basically my DW's 2013 King Ranch. I've been trying to get her to buy a new or nearly new car. But she sees me putting a $300 battery in my little Lincoln every few months and having to trade it while it's only got 26,000 miles on it. And then she reads of all the problems folks have with newer vehicles, I don't have a chance. And probably better off because if she had a single problem crop up on a new one she would remind me very sternly that her KR has been flawless.

Argument you could propose, forums are just a very small group of owners, you have to remember there are literally hundreds of thousands of other owners going problem free. Also, bad experiences always travels faster then good opinions.

All true. Unfortunately she sees my car with its battery problems and headlights and running lights that turn on spontaneously. Electrical gremlins are tough to conquer.

Electrical gremlins are the worse. Never seems to have an easy solution.

Hard to argue that Ford is having a tough time lately with warranty. Most OEM's are struggling due to the glitchy software and buggy gadgetry, but Ford is a bit of a stand out. I've bought close to a dozen Fords over the years and I think all but one had at least 2-3 warranty items. Last few vehicles definitely were more in the 6-10 defects. Difference is that they were able to correct them back in the day. Now if its a software problem, dealers just throw software updates and battery replacements at it. If that doesn't fix it, you're in the endless cycle of taking it to the dealer until you just give up. My 2 cents, I think your wife is right. I don't at all enjoy buying a new vehicle any more because I know it won't meet my expectations for a trouble free ownership experience.
