I finally got to take a break from my day job of stay at home dad and go on my annual adult trip fishing, camping, and other. This was also my first drive towing anything in the new Navigator as well. First impressions on the truck for camping are great, lots of room for gear and the ride on unmaintained gravel was nicer than I would have imagined. The trailer wasn’t too heavy so I hardly noticed it being attached until I had to go in reverse. However, gas mileage was 13mpg (doing the math not trusting the onboard computer. Getting the new vehicle dirty wasn’t painful for the exterior but interior was a little annoying as the weathertech mats weren’t available and the Cappuccino leather seem to love dirt but do clean up easy so no casualties this trip. Looking forward to getting out again soon seeing as this vehicle had so much more room than I’m used too, the extra gear went a long way in comfort and entertainment.20538172-412C-4627-9F83-33E4731A627B.jpegC919A0A9-CDC1-4D4B-8DB1-6EC17D39181B.jpeg841566E8-9C7C-478B-9C4D-6839CD2F65A5.jpeg

Stay at home Dad? Get your kids to clean the wheels. That’s what I do. I pit my 7 and 9 year olds against each other to see who can get them most shiny wins a prize. Child labor. Best thing in the world!

Beautiful trailer BTW! ;-)

Both the kiddos are under the age of 2 so no luck exploiting that child labor just yet.

I wish I could be a stay at home dad....

Thats not even dirty lol. Glad the Navi pulled good, as it should with a little trailer like that. Its going to be a long wait before I can test out my Expedition.

We aren’t your typical parents, I’m 41 and she’s 39 so we got a pretty late start. That and the fact that while I did work I was extremely frugal and have saved since my first job. My wife has a pretty demanding in the medical field so I stay home and do all the house stuff.... I think she found the perfect man lol

My last car was a Subaru Baja and it was such a pain in the butt to pull that little trailer. I took so much more stuff this trip that for a moment I wondered if I should have gotten the longer wheelbase model.

As far as dirty goes, it doesn’t look bad at all but holy cow inside the rear window and tailgate is totally nasty!! All the dust from the dirt road got up inside of there. The aero on this truck makes the rear super dirty!

Good thinking!! I may let mine tackle the wheels first, their little hands should make quick work of those books and crannies.

Not inside the actual vehicle but inside the cavity around the tailgate and if you open the rear cargo window it’s inside of there as well. Lots of beautiful georgia red clay dust.

I hate this about the new rear window. It's just like the crap the GM owners have been dealing with. You'd have thought Ford would have seen how awesome those looked after a trip down a gravel road to know they should come up with perimeter seals or something but alas they didn't.

So true! It’s a pain to clean in there as well. I’ll stay on top of keeping it clean but a perimeter seal would have solved that problem for sure.

I get this with the 2016 as well. I would suggest gettin g something like iron x to clean this area as I’ve found a lot of dirt, road grime, minute pieces of embedded metal and such get stuck back there. Iron x takes all that shit and says “be gone”. Just remember it will take wax as well so finish up with a lite coat to reprotect
