We just finished a 5,000 miles road trip over two weeks. For those long trips, the vehicle WiFi hotspot is a must. It just slashes the whining by 80%, you are then only left with hunger and bathroom whines.
We made the whole trip screen free (we dont do much screens at home either). Everyone was comfortable. I had the kids pack a tote bag each with things to keep them entertained. Didn't hear anyone complain about being uncomfortable. And only a couple, "are we there yet" :)

I did a 2600 mile round trip from MI to southern GA. Easy to get 20-19 mpg sitting at a 80 mph cruise. Left the car in Eco to reduce gearchanges and give smoother trip (engine has enough low end torque accelerate if needed). Adaptive cruise and lane keep assist work really well and really helps with long drives. AC worked great when set in Auto mode (rear HVAC especially effective). Built in navigation worked great. Wireless Apple Car play worked flawlessly. Unsung feature...you can use ACP for phone, text, podcasts, etc. while Sync Nav is running - this was not the case in Sync 3.

It's surprising how much the ride improved when the vehicle was full with luggage. Controlled ride at highway speeds, no floating. Check your tire pressures...from the factory mine were 46 psi! Ride improved greatly at the correct 39 psi.

Only complaint...benchseat does not have a folding center arm rest. It's an annoyance, but that's all I've got in what is a great all-round vehicle.

Ford...if you are reading this...in the next gen Expedition, offer a plug-in hybrid to greatly improve the city MPG. Do not compromise on luggage space to the battery, OBC, etc. - the std Expy is a great size, Max is too large for my use. You have a repeat customer if you launch such a vehicle.

Going on +3000 mile road trip soon - cannot think of a better car at this price point.

We didn't budget. It is what it is. We had a pretty steady 18.6 miles to the gallon during the whole trip. That was in front wheel drive, and with normal drive mode. 2 adults, 3 kids and stuff. It typically, with today's gas prices costs me 100.00 for a full tank of gas.

its REAR wheel drive by default, not FRONT.
