Flooded...Need Help Please...

I am currently deployed and my house got flooded. Apparently the water got to the top of the tires and a little bit got in the truck. She packed the kids up and went to a friends house about 5 miles away. Only description I got was its making funny noises, and apparently the windows won't roll down.

I only had the truck for 2 weeks before I left so I don't know much about it. But is everything sealed...ie the tranny, transfer case, diffs? or do they all need to be drained. and as far as the electrical, there are their any fuse boxes or junction boxes down that low?

went to pick it up today from the body shop, after 500 dollars for shampooing the carpet I pick my truck up. They said the rough running engine went away on its own.

so i leave the shop and floor it and get to about 3000rpm and it starts surging and hanging up and the CEL flashes for about 10 seconds.

I take it back and they run for codes and get a #5 misfire, he clears it and it doesn't come back. So they are taking it to the ford dealer to see the misfire was caused by wear or the flood. I can tell this is gonna be a fun fight.

I'm wondering if the COPs might have gone bad, possibly from water getting to them. You can order a whole set on ebay for about the same price the dealer will charge you for one...

Do your windows roll down now?

I dunno how high the water got in the engine bay. Never opened the hood.

right after the flood my wife told me they wouldn't roll down, i forgot to check yesterday though. Why you ask?

Just wondering if they had "fixed themselves" by drying out.

As for the engine part, I know the COPs do not like water (reason why you cover them when washing your engine). Wet COPs might lead to misfires. They may have dried out enough to more or less work, but they may have been damaged as well?

Well I heard from the ford dealer and the tally is 2 burnt up coils and plugs, they found a short in the main harness, and 2 clogged up cats. So I guess an adjuster from my insurance company is going to goto the dealer and look at the truck, prolly decide if they are going to total it. Ford wants about 6g for their work and another 500 from the body shop's shampoo job who knows. I only owe 11.5 on it

Sounds like a lot of money. At this point, though, it might just be worth it if they total it.
