Just wondering if all the Expy's have A/C air coming out of floor vents when just the upper vents are selected. Had a long trip last weekend and the TX heat had us running the A/C high and my right foot almost froze. Thinking maybe it's residual air (floor vents not completely closing)? Anyone else notice this or can check theirs?
May just need to shove some dense foam into floor vents.

Could be an issue with the blend door/motor. Try switching it to all the other positions and see if there is always something blowing out the floor vents.

I tried that...always air coming out of floor vent. It's less when the instrument panel vents only are chosen, but with floor only or defog options it comes out strong.

It's normal. Most cars do this but American cars seem to do it more so than others. It allows the lower part of the cabin to be cooled as well.

The vent just happens to be where the gas pedal is. . .

The floor/panel door is controlled by vacuum. It is either binding, not getting enough vacuum to operate correctly or there is an issue with the controls. Do you have manual controls or electronic?

I have a lazy floor/panel door in mine which binds now and then. I cycle over to defrost and wait for a thud sound as the door closes, then move the selector to a/c.

FYI - I've never encountered a leaky floor vent that was on all the time in any of the cars I've owned.

Have the electronic controls and thought it had to be a door not closing all the way.
Thanks stamp, I'll try what you said about going to defrost and see if door thuds before going to a/c. Where is the door that closes off this vent? up high in the instrument panel area behind controls? I know accessing that area will most likely be a PITA!
My other option is redirecting or plugging that vent on long summer trips.

They don't make getting to that stuff very easy but the blend door, as it's usually called, should be in the same box that houses your heater core and ac evaporator. On pretty much everything since the 80's the blend door(s) that select between hot or cold air, and where to send it are controlled by little electric motors. The systems are pretty simple but it's not inconcievable that there would be some provisions to send a small amount of air to the floor no matter where you had it set to blow.
