Luxury brands have just as many issues. Take a look at a BMW forum. Some cars just seem to have issues, while the majority are problem free for the most part.

You are a trained mechanic but dont do your own repairs?? You are a one of a kind my friend. I don't know a single mechanic who doesn't do his own repairs just saying. Fords are very well built and it is obvious there a rock hard company being that they are the only american car/truck company that didn't run to get bailed out. IF there is any single reason to buy a ford it is because the ****** ass government does not own them. If chevy to dodge and any other company between them made a good car they would have never gone bankrupt. Just throwing that out there. I have an 2004 with 180000 miles on it and it runs like a god dam CHAMP

:)Thank you for your replies and interest in mine. I am a trained mechanic and are well aware of preventative maintenance and the care for automobiles. Anything mechanical will break, but design is supposed to make improvements to an existing design, not make it worse. If you are a reader of this forum Fords poor designs are well documented throughout. Eight COP's, at the dealer $100.00 ea. That was a good one to leave you broke down on the highway at least four times. In 2005 they can't design a window that will go up and down with reliability, or ball joints in the '98 that last. This is well documented. And on, & on ----.... Congrats!!! to all that got a good "X" but there a lot of us on this forum that did not. The repairs cost too dam much! I really like the "X" to travel in but there is a limit. Shame on Ford. I have no ax to grind, this is just straight info to consider. I wish I was the only one with these problems.

Sorry to hear you've had such bad luck with your Expedition. Personally, I bought my 2002 new with 3 miles on her. Today on my way into work, she turned the 150,000 mark. While I have had to do (2) COP's in that timeframe, I have had no other failures whatsoever. On my 3rd set of tires. Original rear brakes lasted to 102,000 miles. Original exhaust system, original trans, original alternator, original everything, except for the normal wear and tear items. I do my own oil changes, but take her to my mechanic who I have trusted for close to 15 years now for brakes, trans flushes, etc. I'm really looking forward to seeing the odometer hit 200,000 miles now!
