My lovely beast stalled out on me - in heavy construction traffic- yesterday.
Guessing Fuel Pump -- some research suggested Relay - pulled out replaced and all starts and runs now (not driving it yet)
It did do a big pressure return kind of sound after all that --
Anyway, my husband had the same happen on his F150 (2005) and suggested I need the FPDM replaced, but he does not see one anywhere (yet we can purchase such a part from everywhere - including Ford) ..
sooooo
1) is there one at all
2) where is it

Thank you -- I miss my ride

Welcome to the Forum.

What year is your expy?
I assume its a 3rd gen based on the fact that you posted this in the 3rd gen section.

Tell husband that what may ne on a F150 doesn't mean the same is on a expedition although the 2005 and 2006 expeditions were the ONLY years that had a FPDM

Ok...so we just got back from local parts store - they called the local Ford dealership - specifically the service department. They explained where the FPDM can be found on my 2008 Expedition ... and have the part available --
We have a fuel filter (I am the 3rd owner) because it appears to be in less than ideal shape, need to get a kit to test the pressure.
Again it starts, runs, no missing, new battery, no engine light or other lights - all sounds normal.

Relay works, ???? Gas tank never below 1/4, but I only purchased it a month ago ... got a clean bill of health before purchasing ...

Can I drive it safely?

You would drive it? I think I will
I have to ask my husband again - but the parts guy explained it - if we find it I will post a picture for you

Left rear, on top of something is what I remember - and cannot be easily seen

Thank You After doing some research last night I find I was somewhat right and wrong.

Your 08 does have a FPDM yet it is referred to as a Fuel Pump control module in some manuals and as a FPDM in other manuals

This is some of the reason why I try to get members to make a signature line that has their vehicle information Ford is well known for making electrical changes from one model year to the next model year and even during the same model years.

Sorry if I added confusion to your problem And I also thank you as I learned a little more from all of this

So in the continued saga -- as you can imagine my husband climbed all around under the beast and there is NO such part. We replaced the fuel filter and it has not had an issue since my tow home.
I REALLY want to take it to the Ford dealership and have them put it up on the hoist and show me that part - per their description of the location!
HA
But even more scary, they would have potentially "changed it" for me, charged me for that $200+ part and labor - and there is no such thing

The best information I could come up with is it should be located on top of one of the cross members of the frame. Rear of the expy.

I had an 07 and had fuel pump problems. The shop swore it was the fuel pump control module. It is in a bad location for climates like mine. Upstate NY). After a week they found out there wasn't one on mine. Bottom line is you may not have one.

So its a real, live 'whatchmacallit' that needs to be replaced.

"You don't have one, but we replaced it anyway. That'll be $400"
