Really not that hard to replace.Remove inner fenders, fenders,Grill, if it was that hard i would not have done 2.You can just bolt it in and it will stay.Hardest part is drilling spot welds and lining everything up at the end.Depends how many tools you have.Spot welder drills, 90 amp harbor freight welder.some metric wrenches.Welds do not have to be fancy all are covered by fenders.I did them each taking 2 days and saved about $2500. All depends how much time and know howyou have and can you lay up the truck for awhile.Alot of videos on you tube

I think I just fabricate something up out of thin 1/8 or so steel or maybe even thick sheet metal that would fit right on top of that and have an inch and a half turn out or so on the end so I could put two bolts through it and bolted it on. Coat the rusty part really good with Ospho (phosphoric acid) then Rust-Oleum it and undercoat it and stick the new piece on.
This way I think you'd only have two remove that body mount.
You could also do it a different way we just some angle iron and a couple of bends or welds. As long as you go up high enough on the side where you're into good metal and attach at 2 points and bring it down and bend it over flat and drill a hole through it to ount the body mount.
You could even get by with coming down at a 45 degree angle and drilling a hole in your angle iron and running a bolt self tapping or bolt and nuts through the frame right there or the body mount bracket for the body mount goes hook to the frame.
On Old vehicles that aren't show cars, there's more than one thing that will work. Regardless of whether it's the factory approved method for replacing width brand new parts.

That looks like the front body mount. Mine is starting to look bad also. If it gets worse, you have two choices. Fix it or junk it, because it won't pass state inspection.

that depends on the state. A lot of states only test emissions anymore

When you live in an Socialist State, like NY, you get this nonsense. They copied California emission standards. Any engine light, you fail. The 'safety' inspection consist of only 2/32" of rubber and almost no brake pads to pass. However, the parking brake(that no one uses) must work. Any leaks will fail. A small minor windshield crack, you fail. NY Inspection is welfare for repair shops.

Unfortunately, any state that has inspections done at garages is a major conflict of interest in my opinion. I don't see how any reasonable person can see it any other way. It is simply welfare for the repair shops as you said.
Completely wrong! And the fact they're not live worried about safety is the ironic and ridiculous part. I personally don't care about the safety issue.
I know someone disagree but I personally don't feel the state has any business looking out for others on the road or citizens or whatever. Just like when people complained a few years back about they didn't want their little daughter in a Honda getting run over by a big SUV. Well, put your daughter in a big SUV. It's called personal choice to do what you think needs to be done to protect yourself and your family. I'm not going to support the state forcing others to make me safe. That's just wrong in my world.
Most states let people drive one any old trap they want to on the road. Rarely, but if a cop does see a car with a muffler dragging the ground or something else obviously dangerous, they will issue them a ticket or a warning for equipment violation. But for the most part, you can drive whatever old trap you want until it no longer makes it home. Then it gets towed in when you don't get it off the street in a few hours. That's how they put the little bright color notices on them. It's not worth the money to spend to get an old junker out of impound so most of them end up going to the junkyard.
So it's a non-issue that takes care of itself. Inspections are not needed.
I am also, of course, against emission testing too, but I would far rather suffer through emission testing then safety inspections.

What happened to your truck took place over several years in the age of road salt, NOW DAY'S states like Wisconsin are using LIQUID SALT BRINE that is sprayed on the road that does not have to dissolve BEFORE it goes to work on your truck, its instantaneous and seems to also have some sort of BINDER in it that makes it STICK to your ride , wait tell you see what that CHIT does to your Vehicles , Anyway we drove the other day from Minocqua / Woodruff to Rhinelander on Hwy 47 and the (28 miles) of road was DRY out in the country even with the wind blowing snow across the road, But it did not stick to the road being as the road was left UNTREATED and the snow just blew across , as soon as we got into Rhinelander where the roads ARE TREATED the snow stuck and it was a SLOPPY BRINEY MESS from one end of town to the other AND SLICK also, being as there's no place to push snow in town they elect to MELT IT, RUNNING ALL THE MILLION'S OF TON'S OF SALT / BRINE into our lake's, river's, stream's and ground water, Water that we all drink btw, I'm surprised the up in your face about everything else under the sun EPA has not addressed this issue AND it is an issue , QUOTE, (Now imagine not being able to drink your water. That's a problem parts of Madison Wisconsin is having after road salt contaminated city water.

Salt used to treat roads can seep into the ground and runoff into reservoirs. It then gets mixed in with drinking water. For some people, the water can become dangerous to drink.

"We're mostly concerned about the sodium because of folks that have high blood pressure (hypertension), that are on a sodium limited diet. That could be a concern with the drinking water if the concentrations get too high," said Kreitlow , AND then locally in Minocqua / Woodruff there is this news article from TV channel 12 , https://www.wjfw.com/stories.html?sku=20180307172953 .

I would be much happier if they would stop using salt. Also brine or anything else. Just plow the roads and people need to learn how to drive or they can get in wrecks. People are spoiled. They think they can get out there and drive the same way they normally do and that's why the road crews try their best to keep the roads ice-free with so much salt their only barely damp. It's back to that entitlement and lack of responsibility we have in this country.
When we have very cold temperatures or a lot of snow it should be expected that you might not be able to go everywhere you want to go or do everything you want to do we might have to allow a lot of extra time for it or even drive a vehicle you don't normally Drive but see that would actually make the people actually have some responsibility or use their brain. Society wants their taxes that they pay to get them to clean the road so they can just hop in and speed on down the road. I would much rather have cars last years longer.

Thank You TobyU , Your a LOT braver than I am for speaking the truth, I have no problem driving on the roads in FAR Norther Wisconsin with my 2 wheel drive EXPY that has Highway tires, BF Goodrich long trail T/A 's, definitely NOT a traction tire, anyway as for stopping at intersections I just place the transmission in neutral to get the torque off the drive wheels to keep the fronts from sliding and as for starting out I just ease into the gas, been driving like that for 56 years, I've seen people with 4X4's and mud hog tires get stuck OR in the ditch .
