Our new (47miles) 2012 Limited 4x4 took a hit to the passenger side front wheel, fender and door 2 hours after taking delivery from the dealer. Luckily
I had the green. Estimated speed of impact vehicle was 30 mph. The wheel is bent out and down. Can anyone offer advice on damage, hidden or otherwise? I am mainly concerned about the front drive train and chassis.
Thanks,
Ok in NC.

I would take it to a shop that does frames. Let them look at the frame. Everything else can be bought new. Personally I would let insurance take care of it

I agree, let insurance handle it. Its a brand new vehicle I don't think they will try to total it out.

i work in a body shop and we just fixed a 2011 expedition that ran into a jersey barrier at a angle, bent both front frame rails in front of the crossmember and blew the airbags . it wasent totaled and we fixed as good as new. find a good shop with good reviews and you should be fine.

I'd say whomever ran in to you just bought themselves a new expedition. Since the accident will be on the carfax if you every trade it in or try to sell it to someone later, you'll have a depreciated value. Get a good attorney.

you can probably get repairs and a ton of money back from insurance for depreciated value of a vehicle with that low mileage.

Check for a clause about unseen damages. Once you sign off it is yours if anything else pops up. I'd recommend a lawyer look at the repair contract.

Thanks for all the advice. Going to a body shop tomorrow to look for hidden damage beyond the 14k from the insurance company estimate.

If it was mine I would get a attorney. With it having only 47 miles, I would want a new vehicle. Just like was stated if you go to trade or sell that Carfax stays with the vehicle. I know that Body Shops these days can fix just about anything, but that is not the point. You and your family bought a new Expedition, which is at least $42000, now deduct 20% for a wreck you had no control over. That means YOU are the one paying for someone else's mistake. The other persons insurance is going to try to screw you buy putting USED parts on your vehicle.
Just get a Lawyer and let them fight it out

Just an update, frame was pushed into engine behind right front wheel.
Insurance wanted to add 7k to the existing damages to replace frame.
After some discussion truck was totaled and am now driving a 2013 F150
Lariat crew cab. :party52:

What do you like more, the Expy you had or the F150? I had an 08 Expy and wrecked it and it looked worse than yours but no frame damage and insurance did not total it like they should have but once it was fixed one thing after another kept going wrong with it so I traded it for a Stupid 2012 Chevy Impala, cars not stupid I'm just a truck/suv guy. I miss my Expy more than words can describe, plus I have a hard time fitting my fiances wheel chair in the car when we go places.

We still have my wife's '04 Expy, the plan now is to do the 100k services, new tires, detail, etc. and keep driving it. The ride with the indy suspension is more car like than the new F150 and my wife prefers that. We didn't have the new Expy long enough :mad: to compare it to the new F150 screw, but I think I would have been happy with it. The F150 is my new baby.
