Front End Popping Sound

Hello all, I have a 2003 XLT 4.6 and am experiencing a pop when I turn backing up or moving forward during parking etc when turning the steering wheel. There are no symptoms when driving at regular speeds. The front end does not shake and there are no ball joint sounds over bumps etc. This seems to me that it is a inner or outer tie rod issue. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue with my 2000 4x4 expy. My front end is tight also. I hear it only when backing up turned to right. I'm suspecting a c/v shaft, but I don't hear any clicking when driving, like most do. Anyone?
