Welcome. Maybe a silly question, but how detach hoses from the fuel filter

You need a tool like Performance Tool Fuel Line Quick Disconnect Tool

Most auto parts stores have them.

Be sure to search for for which size is right for your year model vehicle.

I finally got around to doing mine - tried over & over with the other tool above with no luck - but I picked up this beast (Powerbuilt 5/16") - and it worked like a champ.
