Gas Cap= better mileage

Just wanted to give you all a heads up, was struggling a little bit trying to figure out why my mileage was lower than it was when I bought my expy, and it finally dawned on me. I know my gas cap was the original from when I bought it, may even have been the original cap, period. Anyway, new gas cap and I've gone from 10.5 to 11.4, and it's still slowly climbing.

Hey, ten bucks. Worth a shot. Bad cap will let fumes escape. I drove my old Impala for a week one time without a gas cap, (ohio e-check pressure tested it and forgot to put it back on!), and it was the fastest tank I ever burned.

Interesting. My Expy makes belching noises out its gas cap, I thought it was normal?
About ever 30 seconds it belches. Is this not normal?

Sounds like it has gas, throw some Tums in the tank......

1st ?...gas cap from the dealership or aftermarket or does it matter?

1nd ?...what year is your impala?

Just a local auto parts store. My impala was a 79. Nothin to brag about.
