Other than the obvious Spark plug/ Air filter change, any suggestions for boosting the gas mileage on a 1999 5.4L 2WD Eddie Bauer with 200k miles?

I've said it a lot but get a good programmer like an Edge CS... I got 2 mpg better... now at 12mpg turning a 37... and get a free flowing exhaust will help and some aren't that loud either if you want if quieter... and google "gotts mod" for an cheap air intake mod...

if you go with a programmer dont play with the 0-60 and quater mile times they tend to waste alot of gas... but are alot of fun

I did the gotts mod and i seen a 2 mpg mileage increase in my last tank..... Granted i also changed my fuel filter the next day so that may have helped.... But for the 13 dollars it cost me to do the mod... It was def worth the outcome ( better mpg, better throttle response, better sound when u accelerate...)

Gotts mod ?

What's the GOTTS mod all about and where can I get one? If you can get 2 MPG increase for $13.00 why not? Is there a down side to it? Rich

-I've always tried to run my tires about 5 psi over the 35 recommended. Make sure to keep them aired up all the time.
-If you don't use them, take off the roof racks.
-Use an energy conserving motor oil
-When taking off from stops, keep it under 2000 RPM, though every so often, it's good to go up, to keep carbon deposits from forming
-On the highway, try not to go above 60-65
-When coming up to lights, try to coast to a stop instead of getting there quickly and hitting your brakes
-If possible, run your AC in vent only. If you must use AC, use Max AC instead of the just AC since it recirculates the cold air
-Keep your interior clean so as to not carry unnecessary weight
-Make sure your alignment is set straight. At the very least, it'll save on tires :)

Those^ are all the free ones. Of course, you could spend money and get e-fans, underdrive pullies, intake, exhaust, etc, though usually people get the for extra power. Mileage is a nice side effect, assuming you can keep the right foot out of it :)
