My new 2017 Limited got the $8000 Ford Rebate plus 4100 Dealer discount plus $750 email from Ford on last minute discount (got night before made deal) plus $10K on a 2010 GMC Acadia with 94K. Original MSRP on Expedition ws $62K. I told my next door neighbor about the deals and he traded Explorer he had for a new XLT Expedition for his wife.
I really could not say no given my preference priorities. When I started looking on a Thursday, dealer had 3 Limiteds; Silver, White Frost, and Red. When we stopped by after a dinner out on Saturday to show my wife, the Silver and Red were gone so I told dealer Monday am we would proceed with the deal on the White Frost.
Our plan will be similar to the Acadia, long distance driving only due to crappy mileage around town and we have 3 other vehicles (including 2 beaters) to use around town that get worlds better mileage. I feel the Expedition will run to 150K if maintained, the Acadia just had too many issues that dated from its design in the mid 2000s, smoking brakes travelling in the NC mountains with our granddaughter aboard was the last straw, though it performed better over its life than I had expected, mostly as great GMC dealer took great (but not cheap) care of it. Issue with brakes was fluid was worn out, dirty. Changing it and master cylinder solved last problem-I had never believed the brake fluid changed being pushed was a realistic maintenance issue, now I am a believer.
I do not doubt Ford will increase rebates on 2017 Expeditions, but in our Southern area there are not many left other than Black 4WD units. The pricing they are putting on the 2018 Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators are staggering so they will want to dispose of any internal competition.
I believe that all the bad exhaust cabin leak publicity is hurting Ford on getting rid of the Explorers, Ford needs to address the issue-I had researched the net pretty heavily on Expedition having similar issue but nothing credible was found.
