Hi Everyone,

So I really think my next car will be an expedition. Right now we have a honda pilot and my wife really wants an 8 passenger. I know that people do not buy these suv's for their gas millage but wondering how bad it really is? My pilot get about 15 around town. How does this compare to the expedition? Are the 2007+ expeditions better on gas then earlier models?

Also in terms of features do all of the Eddie Bauer models have the power seats? Do they have power lift gates?

well my opinion is regardless on what the written estimate is on mpg for the expos its all about how u drive it,the new one's mpg isnt really that much better than the 1st and second gens, maybe a 1-2 mile mpg difference, nothing an intake or exhaust mod cant fix

the 07's on up 14 city 20 highway

now what are the chances on ever achieving those numbers, slim really slim, you're damn near gonna have to drive around at idle speed all day unless you are on the hw,but thats a similar case between big suvs.otherwise the expedition is a find pick.

im sure the eddie b's come with dual power seats/heated as well and power folding 3rd row with power lift gate im sure you can find most of those features on nicely equiped xlt if you wanted to save money, the xlt is also the lightest out the bunch too

o and to no offense to anyone on here with a lift expo, but if you want to get decent mpg outta yours, dont lift it leave it at stock height

i think the EB's have power seats (as do some of the XLT's) but the lift gate may still be an option.

I've got a 2007 EB EL which is stock (for now) except for the K&N intake i put on 2 weekds ago. My wife drives it, and i think she has a heavier foot than i do. She gets 16 or so in town and around 20 on the highway.
We just got back from a 1 1/2 hour trip with the cruise set at 68mph and she got 21.2. There was no wind or anything. There were the occasional up and down hills.
The bad part is if there is a cross-wind, the mpg goes down a lot. The EL acts like a big sail and she got 16 highway on the same trip last weekend.
Overall, for how big it is, it really does quite well. The benefits , for us, out weigh the gas. We traded a 2009 hyundai santa fe for it, and even though that car was super nice, we really like the EL. Even the smaller-mid size SUV/CUV are only getting high teens/low 20's.

A few miles less is totally worth it. Next, i'll work on the exhaust and see if we can get a little more out of it. I'm thinking with some headers (maybe) or at least a new magnaflow set up, we could get another.5-1.5mpg out of it.
