I got tired of applying all these temporary Armor All-like substances to the 11 year old super faded cladding on my '05 Expedition so I decided to do something permanent about it, I hope.
Having owned two Chevy Avalanches in the past with their cladding and bed panel fading issues I have some experience in this area.
Gatorback (www.gatorbackcoatings.com) worked great on the AVs, lasting for years, so I thought I'd give it a try on my Expedition. Mine apparently had dark grey as the original color, but I was up to changing it to black because that color is available as a roll-on. So I ordered some black Gatorback and their cleaning solution, did the prep work and applied the coating over the weekend to the front, sides and rear plastic.
It might not be for everyone or every vehicle but this stuff is a great product if you're looking to clean up that faded cladding. They've got three colors: light grey, dark grey and black. Check them out if your so inclined.
TIP: Do ALL the required prep work and follow the instructions to the letter.
Before and after pics are attached. I apologize for the crappy garage photo lighting. I didn't think to take a before photo until after I started the cleaning/prep and didn't want to take it outside once i'd started.
