On my 2017 I noticed if I press the transmission gear button in the shift lever, that the gears show up beside the tach/fuel gauge when the transmission is in Drive rather than Manual. Do you think this will hurt anything if I leave the gear showing? It is kinda nice to see what gear the truck is in while driving around.

Yeah wont hurt, it's there for you to view. If you switch to manual mode, they display down low, side ways instead of up and down when in drive mode.
