Using the bullydog tuner with 5star tunes. Once I got the rig back, I waited a couple weeks after service just to make sure everything was good, and tried to reinstall the tunes. It failed every time saying it was "missing the vehicle files". That's when I noticed my PCM strategy code went from PMGM0C7 to PMGR2A8. Once 5star updated the tune files, it worked flawlessly. They told me if I left it tuned, the device wouldn't have been able to return it to factory without and unlock code from Bullydog.
OH, Now I understand the unlock code comment. Ford wouldn't have needed a code to write the PCM. I misunderstood, thought that was what you were saying.

I have never had an issue overwriting the PCM with FDRS with typically an HPTuners based tune on any Ford, including the new ones. Have also overwritten COBB, SCT, and Livernois based tunes.

HP Tuners can write the previous Strat based tune, as long as the VIN matches, it just might be missing whatever Ford might have updated in the newest Strat...but honestly most of the time that is a non-issue, most of the time the tune is already messing with what Ford tweaked, but you knew that.

Always an adventure, try owning 2 tuned Fords with OTA updates. 2 times now my tune has been wiped by OTA. No big deal, but annoying. Once I got the tune tweaked to factor the new Strat, the other time I did not.

Had to have my tune updated after i put the whipple cai on the vehicle. I would get an intermittent cel for crank case vent. I would clear it and it would come back in a hundred or so miles. Either way livernois made it go away. I love the way this thing pulls. Its genuinely quick! Effortlessly gets past 100mph. With the new intake you can hear turbo "flutter" noises when you chop off the go peddle. If i can save enough pennies ill get those full race manifolds and retune. Hopefully be 420+ whp with that.
