what are you planning to use to sttach the panels to the main door panel once complete? I was thinking tee-nuts/bolt and washer

yea i was thinking the same or im gonna fiberglass the 2 pieces together and smooth them out till they look as 1 maybe you a backstrap on the inside in a few places to add strength

I though that too but I like the line that panel makes. Plus i can get similar brown vinyl so that the doo gets more of the 2 tone look. I'm using 1/4 plywood as the base (less flex than MDF and glassing the rest other than the speaker ring of course. I may have to change it to 1/2" MDF for the base as I am unsure if its think enough as it stands now to follow the lind of the door panel. We'll see cause I am starting this either tomorrow or next week.

good deal i saw a guy building door panels on another site im on and it gave me a idea instead of fabrication a whole new pod he just cutout the surrounding plastic and built onto that it keeps him from having to make new mounting points it was actual a good idea suprised ive never tried it im just use to building all new everything but he didnt just build a pod be built a whole new panel

Bringing this back, what did you end up doing. I went the dash pod route, with tweet and mid in the pod and woofer in the stock door location.
