Looks like you will lose your door pockets and courtesy lamps. Besides that I think it would look better if the finish was textured to match the original door panels instead of smooth. This would make everything match better after paint.

hmm, so made for a 5.25 and a 6.5 speaker. Not ideal but I get it. And I cant decide if 350 is a deal or not.

With the way those grilles are mounted, the outer measurement of most 5.25 and 6.5 speakers with the grilles would fill that area. I could see 500 for a full door, Although, most of that cost would be the labour.
Just for comparison, the ones I am building should cost me about 60 bucks and most of that cost is colour matched leather/vinyl for the wrap.

imn with you its so much cheaper to build them yourself but to most that may seem like a daunting task when its really pretty simple specially w/ the 1st gen having a 2pc door panel

Oh I agree, its not easy to fab anything that needs to flow with the panels that were designed by a small army over a period of time of who knows how long.

one of the reasons I learned to do these type of things is my local shops were/are charging astronomical amounts for seemingly simple pieces. Dont get me wrong, these door pods are quite nice in the one picture they show but I would just want to see pics of how they are made, the inside, the back, how they are attached, do they come painted or in primer etc. to really gauge their quality and functionality.

These look Ok. Don't think I'd pay $350 for them though. I really don't like the cloth over the speakers. I'll try and find a picture I saved from a guy who was selling a pair of door panels. I really liked how he did his.

ive seen these installed and they dont look bad the only down fall i could find was the fact they dont have individual airspace for each speaker im thinkin of building a few sets and selling them cheap to ppl on here that want that custom look but dont have deep pockets needed to have a local shop build them im with you i learned to do what i can b/c im to cheap to pay sky high prices for mediocre work maybe we can join ideas and and see if we can create a low cost alt for ppl on this site

what are you planning to use to sttach the panels to the main door panel once complete? I was thinking tee-nuts/bolt and washer

I prefer the Home made Idea over those ( Shop Built ) , shared airspace panels ?? .. Plus Dealing with members on a Forum over a Vendor or a Shop Makes the Part that much more Worth it , I have been on these types of Forums Since early 2000's .
