Tablets don’t have the external GPS antenna nor do they have dash cam capabilities.
They also don’t have audio preamp out options nor simple video out connections.
Auto power on and power of with ignition they lack as well.

The HVAC controls are directly integrated into the factory unit.
Currently there is one option for replacement and that was the Tesla Style unit linked above. It is already 3 versions of the Android OS behind and extremely lacking in processor power and memory. So not willing to drop $650 on it and it no being upgradable.

If there was a viable option to replace the factory unit I’d do it in a heartbeat but I don’t have the option at the moment.

Tacoma bezel trimmed.
Jury is still out on whether it takes up too much real estate on the dash.
I need to make the sides and top then attach it to the tray. This will likely be temporary since We have one Tesla style unit. Hopefully someone will be along in short order with a better spec’d unit.
Octa-Core, 4gb ram, 64gb memory and I am in.
This will do for now though I may trim a bunch off the top above the screen.

No one steals car audio equipment around here anymore.
There is no market for it.

I am looking at purchasing this one:
http://www.linkswellinc.com/products/t-style-radio/gen-ii-ford-f-series-t-style-radio/

They have it with the correct trim for the 2015-2017 Expeditions that relocates the hazard light switch into the top center. Currently, they are having issues controlling the rear HVAC, but the California based rep says they will be releasing a "patch" in October to fix the issue.

Anybody have any thoughts on this model?

It like the Phoenix I posted (likely the same Chinese supplier) are way behind in specs.
Android 4.4 (newest is 9.0) and 2gb of Ram and 32 gb onboard memory, with a quad core.

They’ll be slow as can be in a year or so.
Octacore, 4gb ram at the minimum before I think I take the plunge or cost will have to be sub $500 knowing it will all need replacing in a couple years.
