i installed a set on my buddys '98. i really like them myself..when i can justify the price i'll get a set.

yeah they are cool lookin' at night, and light up brighter when you put your turn signal on.

Just don't know how stable they'd be without being able to rest against the running boards, seeing as how I don't have them on.

NC-Expy, as long as you get them in amber, you will be fine. Going with any other color and you can possibly run into issues with the cops. I could see white ones in that location that would come on when you opened any door. That would be an interesting thing.

As for survivability, as long as you are not scraping the underside of the truck on rocks and whatnot from say 4x4ing, they will be fine. Just make sure to use all 6 of the mounting clips per side. If you start spacing them out, you can have the LED tube flexing too much which will trash the circuit card inside the tube in no time.

They say they mountto the pinch weld at the bottom of the rocker panel- I am sure you could fab a small drop down bracket if need be
