That would be great. I have 4 rock chips already. The current glass is crap and you can see noticeable distortions in the glass when viewing it from outside at certain angles.

If anyone is interested in one for the Expy let them know. If enough of ask they will make it.

My message:

Will the F-150 windshields fit the Expedition? If not, what would it take to get one made for the 4th generation expeditions? Thanks!

Response from the company:

Thank you for your inquiry to Hyperformance Glass Products. Our Hybrid Windshield is not yet available for your requested model year vehicle. The F-Series Windshield is dimensionally different than the Expedition and they are not interchangeable. However, we have several additional vehicle model applications planned for release in the coming months and your vehicle application is under consideration. Please check our website for new product announcements and to place your order. HGP’s purchase price includes free shipping to your installer and a 2 Year industry leading warranty.

I’ll take my OEM windshields via my insurance for FREE :)

Yeah, but eventually OEM glass begins to look like someone sandblasted it after alot of highway miles even if it's not technically cracked or chipped bad enough for insurance replacement

But my question is, is it actually "insulated glass"? Or is it just thick single glass? The reason the factory went to insulated glass was for noise reduction. They gave up durability to gain comfort. I'm not sure what's better, but thats why the new windshields break so easily as its 2 thin pieces of glass laminated together with an air gap in between the layers.. Cars 5-10 years old rarely break the glass because they didn't have this fancy insulated noise reduction glass in them.

My wife has broken 4 windshields on her Ford Flex in the last 3-4 years, its really getting annoying. She never broke a windshield in 20 years before this flex with insulated glass AND these stupid pea-gravel-tar roads now with all the tiny stones.

Ford has been using insulated sound screen glass standard since the 2006 MY for the Expedition....there was no switching to insulated glass, recently anyway lol.

This is my first expedition, so excuse me. I wasn't a Ford man until recent few years. I like older vehicles as I can repair them myself, so I haven't been up on these newer electronic nightmares.

I think the electronics make it easier to diagnose but I’m used to messing around with jets that have systems on top of systems. The problem is the manufacturer making it hard for a third party shadetree to easily/cheaply figure out what’s going on without the proprietary software and such.

Yep, exactly how they want it. Job security for their dealers.

According to this article; https://www.foxnews.com/auto/gorilla-glass-ford-f-series-windshield , the exterior layer (of three) is convention soda lime glass.

The “gorilla glass” layer is sandwiched in the middle, to make the windshield five times stronger than a conventional windshield.

I don’t think this new windshield will help the damage and sand-blasting caused by rocks and small debris.

Exactly, Glass is only as hard as glass, so the sand, salt and stones will still sandblast it.

I sure hope your windshield doesn't have an air gap between the laminated layers.

My house windows have an air gap between the panes. According to the invoice I paid good coin for them to inject the 3rd most abundant gas in our atmosphere into this void. Very inert-esting stuff, was noble of the salesman to recommend, though his sales pitch led me to believe he was blowing hot air.

Makes you wonder what the point of the new design is then if it doesn't prevent chips and cracks better than a normal windshield. A super strong windshield will also make it more difficult to get out from the inside in an entrapment/accident situation, but maybe it will help keep a deer from coming through the windshield.

I'm in that boat, there is one tiny star of s chip that's not in the main view but the rest of the windshield looks like we went through a sandblast tunnel. Its original to my 03 so I guess theres not much to complain about. Nothing appears to have ever leaked in this thing so I kind of want to keep it that way and just deal w it.

No deductible glass breakage is nice to have. It cost me virtually nothing extra in premiums. I've only used it twice in my life so I've probably broken even. It's just nice not to have to shell out $400 at random

I read aluminum bodies flex more and its tough on windshields. The 'Michelle' glass is $899. My glass coverage has a $0 deductible. In 30ys, I have only replaced 1 and had 1 chip fixed.

Luckily I haven’t had to try it, but I think that the windshield is supposed to be able to pop out by kicking it from the inside and out of the way so that you aren’t climbing through the windshield itself, just the opening.

Just had the '04 windshield done last weekend with OEM replacement $0 deductible. Was the factory original and thoroughly sandblasted at about 189,000. After 15 years of zero claims it was due for glass. LOL
