Hey all, I'm new to the forum, and have just recently started working on tuning up my Expedition. I have a 98 EB w/ 5.4l engine. I love this truck, but my mileage was dropping down below 11mpg this winter so I've started trying to bring it up. I put in a K&N air filter when I bought it, change oil frequently, fuel filter, all that good stuff. I started changing my rear differential oil the other day, but it still looked new, so I decided to hold off a bit. I have new tires and new brakes (pads and rotors) all around, and I recently used Seafoam on the engine. Over the last week or so I have been getting closer to 13mpg, which is not bad, but I'd really like to get it higher.

I think I may have screwed up a bit though...

I just picked up a Superchip programmer on ebay, and was blown away by the difference in power. I was actually able to get my tires to break free for once. And the pick-up is awesome. Unfortunately, I am getting the feeling that my mileage is going to go down if I don't keep my foot off the floor.

Does anyone have any good ideas (other than easing up on the pedal) that will help my mileage go up in town? I'm quite broke, so the cheaper the idea, the better...

Thanks all, I've been loving all the info here so far.

Iget the best MPGs when its sitting in my driveway. LOL .
The cheapest way to get better fuel milage is to properly inflate the tires i have 35 psi in them .next proper alingment. keep your foot out of it.
