Got code p0430 on road trip home... Haven't had time to troubleshoot if it's o2 sensor or bad cat yet but I wanted to hear opinions about after market downpipes with cats and if they will actually pass emissions. Any one have the aftermarket stuff installed on their expedition?

Thanks

Not on the Expy but on other cars. Burnt up the high flow cats from cooks (literally melted the inside) and ended up using Mercedes high flow cats from their supercar. Works perfect and no more melted cats. Fair to say the car is modified.

thanks for info... been doing a lot of reading since i posted this... turns out Ford Catalytic converters have 80k 8 year warranty and I am just under that so will be skipping the aftermarket stuff :)

I would like to hear about others with aftermarket downpipes though.

Thanks for the info on recall... I got that in mail and chunked it because I was tuned... Guess is should get this done and get tune updated.

I have the SPD downpipes and cat's. been on the car for about 6yrs, 70k miles. great so far! definitely a notice change, also definitely impacts sound. The only caution i have is make sure you get the O2 extensions, if the O2 sensors sit the standard depth, they will throw codes. SPD has the extensions and I haven't had a code for cats since.

Are you able to pass emissions?

Haven't tried but I don't see why not. All of the readings are fine and the extensions aren't noticeable. I would imagine I need to remove the tune on it before I have to go just in case but otherwise I don't see why it wouldn't. It's not like a cat delete and the cats are EPA approved.

Interestingly enough, you made me go look though. Looks like it was around Jan 1, 2021 that my state started requiring all cats, including aftermarket replacements to be CARB certified. I bought these Dec 2020, so I think I just barely, unknowingly beat the timeline. They wouldn't work today.

I also just checked the SPD website, and man, the prices are creeping up. I'm sure it's all the dumb regulations for companies like that now as well as material costs. But the downpipes for the '22's are substantially more than the 18/19.
