when my truck started to act up 2 years ago i also thought it was the tranny til i read up on it at this site, i changed the coils and had ford change the plugs, my this v8 purrs like a kitten now
got the transmission replaced, still got the stutter

I'm sorry buddy. That speciality guy saw you coming from miles away! He might have Subcontracted the trans rebuild out. That would explain the Excessively high price.
