hello folks. i need help. i'm asking this question because after going thru many posts on here, i have yet to find an answer that i guess i'm comfortable with. i have a '98 Expedition and like my factory headlights, rare for me but i do. what i'd like to do is add an h.i.d kit to them. one of my questions is, where can i find a good reputable company that offers a bixenon kit for my truck? will i also need the harness kit that most folks talk about to avoid having any problems? a 35w kit is what i'm looking for as after doing some reading, 55w just seems to be too much for the headlights. what about my foglights, is a 35w kit ok or enough for the fogs or should i go with the 55w? i drive a lot back and forth from TN to NJ to TN and the roads in between at night are dark so i need better lighting for sure.

now with the newer l.e.d lights that a bunch of aftermarket companies are offering, can someone please explain what the differences in lighting between spot, fog, driving and flood are? what would work best for driving like i do at night in pitch dark conditions? i know we all have opinions about everything and that's what i'm looking for but i'm also looking for experiences too. TIA

I would just go to ebay and pick up a set of hid's from a seller that has a good rating. There is no sense in spending huge dollars on a kit.

Many of the led aux light bars have a mix of spot and flood lights to balance out the view.
The spots throw a narrow beam far down the road, and the floods throw out a wide beam that doesn't go very far down the road.

Driving lights = spots
Fog lights = floods

If I were going to put 5 lights on the roof rack (for example) I would put a pencil beam (super narrow spot) in the center, a spot on either side of that and then a flood on the outside of those. This would completely light up the road and off to the sides.
