I have a 2003 Ford Expedition with a 5.4 150k . I bought it about a year ago. Im having a hard start issue where it will crank about several times and then starts, Once it starts it sputters a bit and then smooths out. It runs perfect and idles perfect, I dont have any power issues and overall is a good vehicle. When I bought the Exp it had this issue, I have swapped out the Fuel Pump,Fuel Filter,Fuel tank Cap,MAF. I cleaned the Throttle body and also cleaned the IAC. The only thing is if I prime it a few times It crank once and start right up, and then sometimes I dont have to prime it and it will start right up with no issues. It stumps me because, Im not getting any codes and it drive perfect.....

Im wondering if new plugs would make a change even tho it runs fine besides the starting issue..

What about the check valve or the fuel pump relay?

Weird, it sounds like it would be the filter, but you've already swapped that out...

I had this same problem. Took about 2000 miles til I started throwing a code. Ended up being COP #7. Swapped it. Problem solved. This is after I changed plugs and my EGR pressure sensor.

I’m sorry to hear you had to go through that raree, but I’m glad you solved the problem. :)

You should hear of the problems I had with my 2004 Mustang GT,Tranny went out, 4 coils went out, MAF went bad, Rear axle bearing and abs light wont go away. Dealer cant figure out the ABS.

but for some reason I still own it.. I love it !!!

I was tOld by a friend/ ford mechanic that my fuel pump was getting bad. So I went to ford and bought a new one. It didn't change any of the starting issues.

I’ve been in the same boat svtfiveoh! I’m sorry to hear your ABS light is staying on. I hope the dealer can find the issue for you.
