Out of the 2, a 98 switch would probably work. At least that's what it shows on rock auto. The 99-02 Expys seem to be their own little thing, compared to the 97-98 Expys.

I went to pick a part and got one but don't remember what year the truck was that it came out of. I see that it has diff internals inside from mine but hooks up and works but don't want to burn anything up.

Ok, I hooked it up tonight and the parks worked, headlight worked, fog lights worked, the climate control stuff worked, but still no dash lights. With old switch the dash lights and climate control stuff didn't work but all other stuff did. I need my dash lights to work, anyone have any idea what it could be or maybe still the switch? How can I test and what do I test?

Anyone have any idea what it could be? We need to get these dash lights to work for when we get this truck running if I can figure that problem out as well.

I would grab a volt meter, get a schematic and see if power is going to the wire that feeds the dash lights, doesn't the actual dimmer switch control the dash lights after the headlight switch is turned on? Check and see if there is power to the dimmer switch after the headlight switch is turned on.

The dimmer works for the climate control and I know dash is or should be hooked up, the warning lights come on when I turn key. All works but dash lights to see at night.

Check all your taillights and headlights.

It kinnda sucks you have a 97 since I don't have a wiring schematic of the dash illumination, only for 99-03. The 97-98 Expys have different wiring in some places.

See if you can find a wiring schematic for your year (alldata?).

Do your cruise control buttons light up? For the 99-02s, the light blue/red wire seems to be used for illumination of everything that lights up.

I'm not sure if they light up, the truck won't start now after changing plugs. I think fuel pump or something went out as well. Truck has few problems.
