New to the forum! My wife bought a brand new 2018 Expedition XLT yesterday, and it is fully loaded with every option a XLT has to offer. I could not see spending an extra $10,000 just to get LED headlights and Captain chairs on a limited Expedition. The only problem I have seen that I'm not happy with are the headlights. I've looked through the Forum and have not found anything about changing the lights. I talked to the dealer and they have tried to put the limited headlights on an XLT but could not make it work due to different voltage. What options do we have for LEDs or HIDs. The lights are projection but are not bright, and they are yellow. It is pretty sad that the basic small SUVs have led options.Resized_20180510_171556.jpg All help is greatly appreciated!

You can swap in led bulbs and it works fine. Only missing part is the led drl strip. I actually just couldn’t find one with the led lights when I got my limited. Wish I’d waited, but oh well. It’s an option on the limited, should have been standard.

Agreed, too big and expensove to be cutting corners like that. The dealer i got mine from said all expys will get the led strip std when i ordered, and wouldnt even sell me the one that did have the led headlights. Tsk tsk and its still sitting there. Anyway, dsc has the bulb numbers and stuff for the led lights. I bought beamtech foglights and they are pretty nice. There is a funny yellow white thing goin on but ill fix that later

I put 6000k HID lights in my 2018 Expy. The entire front bumper has to come off to access the light bulbs. Cost me $600 to have done at the dealer.

The front bumper absolutely does not have to come off, I’ve already posted about this. You can change all three bulbs high low and fog from the wheel wells in about ten minutes.

He bought hid not leds. The dealer told me the bumper needs to come due to hid and ballast setup. I wish he saw your post sooner to save some money. i was thinkin about going the hid route but now im going the led route because its vastly cheaper.

No difference in hids other than another little box to mount or zip tie somewhere. I’ve installed a few dozen hid kits in the past 15 years. The new led bulbs are way better, I don’t use hids at all anymore. Rob look at the fx4 headlight thread.
