2006 limited expedition. it has happened twice now. On longer trips 2 hours or more our controls to the heater function properly on the dash but don’t move the air from floor,to vents,to windshield. The air sound as it is blowing from the front and rear but we don’t feel it at all. The next morning everything works fine.

One of your vacuum hose may have a leak and when the engine is warm it gets worse. I think the default heat position is the dash. Check your vacuum hoses. I had a vacuum hose come off and the air wouldn't change to different registers.

Scotty Kilmer has a video: How to check for a vacuum leak with a cigar. Check it out if you can find the leak.

So I let this go because I don’t go on too many long road trips. I’m starting road trips now and it still happening. I changed the blend door. That was not the issue though. The issue is the vent controls. Does the 2006 have vacuum on the vent controls. Can anyone help with this issue.

I have been investigating the issue. I found out the vent controls are by the gas pedal. Does anybody know what those parts are called to get replacements and would those actually be the issue?

This was the previously written problem. Sorry for any confusion.

The two biggest things that cause a malfunction on the Ford Eatc heater/AC units are, the hoses leading up to the unit get small holes from rubbing, or cracking, usually under hood by firewall, or the Eatc unit itself goes wonky. When we used Crown Vic's at my cab company, that was usually the culprit. The manual knob ones never had problems. Once in a while the manual ones had resistor problems that made the fans have low and high, but no middle settings. Theirs a self diagnostic test you can do yourself, Google how, or look it up in owners book.

You do have the full electronic system? They work off of vacuum. Do you have the Ford repair CD?

If you are still having thus problem check your blend door actuators also blend doormotors. Therare multiple. Another thing sound to me like your control module may not be working. If so you should visit your closest salvage yard if you want to save money.
