Guys-

Brand new to the forum B/C of repair in "new to us" vehicle.

I'll make a proper introduction later (just sold a '66 Bronco), but have an immediate need to find out about the single piece heater assembly hose assembly with the T connector.

Do I really need to replace this whole hose assembly or can I just replace the leaky T and clamp on the hoses?

Thanks!

Dave

I used a brass pex plumbing fitting and hose clamps. Worked like a charm. Make sure to cover the coils when you cut into the hoses.

I'm certain it was a 3/4 pex connector. Same size as the inside of the 5/8 heater hose. I am fairly sure my hardware store only carries 1/2 and 3/4 pex fittings. It definitely wasn't 1/2.

I JUST did this and ordered the whole assembly (Motorcraft) from amazon for around forty bucks shipped (prime) and changed it with pretty much no tools except for the regular hose clamp on the front hose. I really don't see a point in trying to make something work when you can get the proper replacement for that cheap.

The point in making something work may be a better alternative to replacing the whole assembly (Motorcraft) which are known to fail and leak, which has been an ongoing problem with the heater hose assembly in the Expeditions.

I would also agree about using a brass "T" fitting rather than a plastic fitting which could possibly crack and leak

Guys-

I ended up just buying the $40 hose replacement. After looking at the plastic T, decided I wanted to do it right.

Thanks for the info and replies!

Dave
