hello, new to the forums and on my 2nd 1st gen expedition. got a 99 eddie bauer model this time. love the exp. but hate the fuel mileage, lol my antenna is missing, it has the base but just curious how can i tell if its broke off or just has the whip missing? cant really tell by looking at it. tried a antenna from a 99 explorer but it wont thread into the hole. im looking at getting a carbon fiber antenna from the bay if anyone knows how good they are? thanx and glad to be a part of the forums

The OEM antenna has a threaded stud on the end of it. If the antenna is just missing, then you should be able to look into the female portion of the base and see the threads still there. If it is broken off, then there should be the male portion of the antenna still in there.

Oh and by the way, welcome to the forum.
