Hi guys.

Noob Expy owner from Montreal, Canada here.
I first registered on the other forum, but then I noticed that many ppl moved on over here. So here I am :)

Just got my Expy EB a few days ago after a lot of searching and hesitating between getting an Expedition or a Diesel Excursion. Finally settled on the Expy and couldn't be happier. Love it!

It's a black & tan 2004 Eddie Bauer, 57k miles, very well maintained, fully loaded (nav, dvd, air ride, moonroof, heated/cooled leather, 2nd row bucket seats, pwr folding 3rd row, a lot of bells and whistles). The owner said it cost around $67k Canadian brand new.

I got a bit of sh*t from friends for buying a "gas guzzler", but my answer to them is that between my civic hybrid daily commuter and the Expy I prolly get better overall mileage that their families with 2 regular sedans. Plus, nothing beats the feeling of driving this truck! I have to constantly fight the urge to take it to work instead of the Civic. I will probably end up using it to commute at least once a week, just for the heck of it. And i'll obviously use it to commute in winter. The Civic's low ground clearance is no match for the amount of snow we get up here sometimes.

I plan to try and improve gas mileage as much as possible. I'll start with the cheap & easy mods first (like upping tire pressure, the GOTTS mod, a K&N air filter) and then go with the more expensive stuff like a programmer and maybe a freeflow exhaust. I'll combine that with hypermiling driving techniques to hopefully get to around 15-16mpg city and 21-22 hwy.

Cheers!
Robert.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
Here are a few pics i snapped with my phone last nite. Sorry for the quality.
Didn't take any pictures of the inside. It's the regular tan leather trim. Looks excellent except the center part of the 2nd row seats (the whiter leather), where the leather is quite cracked. I'm gonna try to find replacement seats at some point, or at least seat covers.

Haha. The flip side is that we can't have vanity plates. It's always random. (well, unless you know someone at the DMV :) )

My truck came from New Brunswick and used to have a front plate. The holes are still there in the bumper, and I've got the frame in the garage. I was thinking of installing a "Built Ford Tough" front plate, but didn't find any that I liked. So I guess I'll plug the holes and polish that area of the bumper right above the lower grille.

Will post pics if i decide to plug 'em. (i was thinking of using a bit of Bondo, sanding it down, priming it and then using a touch-up pen to apply the color. the holes are really small, so a slight difference in color wouldn't be noticeable).

But right now, i'm revisiting the idea of installing a vanity plate. I've got one of my favorite NFL team (not gonna name it :p) on my cubicle at work, but it's plastic. I dunno it it would last too long on the truck. Gonna search e-bay for a metal plate.

In other news, I've hand washed it and spend about 2 hours waxing it this w/e. I didn't have time to order the Fukken Wax i saw on this site, but just got some Meguiars spray wax from a local parts store. Truck looks pretty darn good now. Lots of ppl surprised that it's a 7 yr old truck. :D

So I took the truck to work (again :D) today and some ppl started complaining that it's too big and they can't back their sedans out of their parking spots (although there's at least 8ft of space between my car and theirs). Darn it...

Yeah, imagine if i had an Excursion lol :)

Anyway, my Expy was the king of the parking lot for 3 days. The only other truck that came close to its size is a colleague's Nissan Frontier. I'm gonna keep commuting in my Civic for the summer and then when the weather gets bad and I start taking the Expy to work, i'll find another place to park.

screw'em!!! a bunch of HATERS up north!!! and CRY BABIES!!!

Word! Montreal is one of the least car-friendly cities in North America.
I live in a nice small town about 20 miles away, but I commute to Montreal every day. And I always feel this attitude of hate / contempt by Montreal city folk towards us drivers (especially drivers of "gas guzzlers" like my Expy).

City officials are constantly finding new ways to make driving in the city as annoying as possible: lots of one-way streets, lots of no-left turn intersections, lots of parking spots being replaced by bike paths.

It's like they're trying to make you feel guilty for driving your car instead of using a bicycle or taking public transit. If you're a cyclist, you're God around here, they respect no traffic laws, run red lights, swerve in and out of car lanes, burn through stop signs, and the cops don't do anything about it.
Us drivers are the devil... Last week I was stopped at a red light in my Expy and a cyclist came from the back of the pack and punched my truck as he passed me.

I drive a hybrid, but i swear to God i don't understand these Eco-tard fanatics and their hate towards anyone that doesn't share their minimalist way of life.
