2017 Expedition Limited. 100k miles. I got a misfire note on cylinder 1 and 4 and planned on replacing all 6 plugs and coils. I tried the easy ones, 1 and 4, and it was a total shit show. Coil boot did not come off when I pulled the coil and was stuck on plug so I had to shred it to get it out. I successfully replaced 1, 2 and 4 but finding it very difficult to even get the coils off for the other 3. The coil just doesn't want to budge and getting any kind of leverage is difficult. Any special tools to make this happen? How about any suggestions for pulling boot with coil? Anyone successful in pulling off this operation?

I Used a 7/16 socket with extension to push onto the stuck boot. I used a rope under the connector of the coil to give you some leverage as you pull to get it out.

Thanks. Now that the weather is cold I will try again - maybe the cold with help keep the boot attached to the coil. I like the rope idea. I was thinking of trying to pry it out but afraid something would snap

If you have not yet replaced the plugs and coils, there's a colder heat range plug from ford racing: Part number is M-12405-35T.
For coils, make sure you're using OEM motorcraft coils. I tried NGK and they didnt last that long. Replaced with motorcraft and it's working perfectly. I now have a spare OEM coil on the shelf because of that.

Those plugs made a noticable difference
