have you replaced the throttle position sensor? you need to do this anyway because they are very brittle and don't age well. and yes, it controls how your transmission shifts

I have a 99 Eddie Bauer expedition with the 5.4 Triton and the 4r100 20 bolt transmission I need someone's help I have spent lots of money with nothing to show for it because it's still doing the same thing. Big problem is the transmission has to be manually shifted it doesn't want to shift when just put in drive have been told electrical issue and the speedo fluctuates at an idle and will register 100+ at approximately 30 I've tried everything and I can't figure it out and I like the truck and would like to keep it but I've got to get it right

Your truck is in limp mode. Just to rule it out check the TCM.

Flashing overdrive light means the transmission set codes. Use an OBD scanner that reads transmission codes.
