Howdy all, hoping you might be able to help diagnose an issue with my '05 Navigator (not an Expedition, but hey it's close ;) ).

The 'gator has memory and power fold mirrors that I'm guessing are identical to the one fitted to EB Expeditions. On my truck, they are misbehaving a bit...

About 7 times out of 10, the driver side mirror will start to adjust on its own, either when the keyless fob is used or when I start the truck. It acts similar to the auto-adjust for reverse feature, but as I understand it that function is not present in the '05s. As it stands, the glass seems to just end up wherever it wants. I can use the switch to readjust, but that leads to a second issue:

The mirrors will not continuously adjust when I use the switch. It will move some and then stop. I release the switch, then hit it again and the glass moves some more. Three or four or five cycles of this and the mirror is where it is supposed to be. Not the end of the world but a pain in the hind end for sure.

Any thoughts? I'm thinking it is likely something central to both mirrors as they both do the same thing on adjust, though only the drivers mirror moves on its own.

First off, Welcome from MA!

Very strange problem. This may be a dumb question, but have you checked to be sure that your remote is the same number as the memory seat setting that you use? For example, I think that If you use Fob 2, you would need to also use preset 2 as well. The test for this would be to set both Memory 1 and 2 seat and mirror settings to be the same, and then see if you have the same issue when you start the truck again?

Also, Sounds like the motor may be tired on both sides, or need lubrication? If the truck is trying to move the mirrors each time to a different memory setting, and the motors are jammed up or older, it stops wherever it would stop when you manually adjusted it, but does not try again?

I am not a big electrical guy, so if it were my truck, I would remove the glass and unplug the motor. Adjust them by hand and call it good. I know it is not all that helpful to fixing the problem but it would atleast save the time readjusting them every time it happens.

Funny part is, it does not always happen. Seems much more prevelant if I hit unlock twice, to open all the doors. If I'm just hitting the driver's door it's more like 50/50. I think once I have some time I'm going to pull the mirrors apart and give them a good cleaning. Found out that the passenger door lock switch is 50% out as well - lock works fine, unlock not so much. Add that to my list of niggling little issues....
