2006 expedition 5.4l changed coil, sparks and injector. Fuel filter also. Having a rough idle and also if I floor the gas pedal and it gets between 3k-4k rpms it makes a chatter noise and then my check engine flashes. Scan it and says cylinder 5 misfire.. HELP any feedback?!? I potentially think my catalytic converter is bad or going bad but I'm tired of throwing money away.. Took it to pepboys and they said cylinder 5 is ok it's 8. So I changed everything again on 8 n still having the same issue.. HELP

I doubt this helps, but I have the identical setup, and since I had the plugs changed in February I have had misfires on cylinders 2 & 5. On both occasions I remedied the issue by unplugging and refastening the plug on the cop. I assume there is corrosion in the connectors, so I plan to add dielectric grease to all of them.

I used all oem.. Motorcraft. Spark coil and injector.. Someone mentioned to me that could be a possible bad valve or maybe even a dead cylinder.. But I'm not sure.. I have good compression in all cylinders

What codes are you getting specifically?

The flashing check engine light is not good to keep running with.

Btw, if you have multiple parts on the car that can interchange I would do that first to save money except the spark plug because of the problems associated. I know you said you already changed it. That's just for future reference.

P0305 and it only flashes while under heavy acceleration.. Doesn't do it if I drive normal but it will ride rough..

Don't know if this applies to your engine but did you see any traces of coolant around the #5 cop or plug?

P0305- CYLINDER 5 MISFIRE- ADVICE?? - Ford F150 Forum

If not I would check the connector eightisenough said. I myself had a similar issue with coolant leaking onto a cop and degrading the connector so that when I changed it the problem came back within a month. That would also explain why you are getting the flashing cel at higher loads. If the cop isnt getting enough current/voltage you won't have as much voltage potential for the spark and it takes more voltage to jump the gap with greater pressure.

I'm having same issue on #4 one mechanic checked all electrical an fuel to that cylinder......all good. So he pulled the head cover on that side, replace what he thought was a bad lifter and a rocker. After he put it all back together.....still a misfire. He's telling me it has to be a bad valve or the head is cracked or warped.

Woohoo.....Have a Blessed day everyone!!!

FYI - With the computer controlled engines of today anytime these so called mechanics says they think a valve is bad or a head is cracked always ask for the test results that back up their claim. If they don't have it then they are only guessing at the problem and throwing parts.
Live by just two words - prove it.
