Right, gotta find out what those codes are. However, if the hose has been out several months and the codes just started, they may be unrelated. Do your wiper fluid sprayers work ok? Can't tell from your picture how big it is but the hoses for the sprayers are small, around 8mm OD.

I can't say for certain. It looks like a coolant hose to me, but I just replaced all my 2004 coolant hoses and that wasn't one of them.

If it's causing codes what are they. The codes will help to identify the hose if they are related to it.

Did the Expeditions have additional equipment to meet the CA emissions standards? If so it could be be part of that and I might not know anything about it. I know the early 2000's Monte Carlo's had an optional CA emissions package. More or less it was an air pump that ran only at cold startup since in CA "the solution to pollution is dilution".

Consider the possibility that the mystery hose has little or nothing to do with the trouble codes you're getting and, if those codes are emissions related, your Exp will fail inspection. With a deadline looming, I'd be focused on resolving the DTC's first.

I've been trying to learn how to read and decipher the "live data" on my scanner for further clues to the P0175.
Here are a couple of things I saw in the data:

If that heater circuit is on Bank 2, it could be related to the P0175. The O2 sensors aren't functional until they're heated to a minimum temperature.
