This is a little how to on mechanically modifying the headlight switch to allow the use of fogs in any position.

First, you need to remove your headlight switch. After removed, use a small flat tip to remove the outer casing.

Once removed, you can either remove the faceplate from the casing, or leave it. You can use silicone/RTV/other adhesive to secure it if you remove.

You will need a dremel or soldering iron for this job. The idea is to remove material from the switch to allow you to pull the switch in other positions.

Once you have finished removing the material, you can re-assemble. You now have a mechanical fix to fogs ON in off or park position.

Wow cool! I like driving with park and fog ON and lights OFF. Very clever

Any chance you know how to prevent the fogs from switching off when high beams are on?

I think there is a how to around here somewhere, or the F-150 forum has it. I read thru it once, iirc, you have to run a jumper wire in the harness. not 100% tho

yea its retty easy... you Pull the dash switch slides str8 out once you get it out and disconnected there is a Piece you need to grind out again nothing major it revents the fogs from being on excePt when the headlamP is on. no wiring or relays just a good old mechanical solution. iff you ull the switch cluster and cant figure out what to grind out take a Pic of the back i can walk you through it

Tell me what you want the lights to do and I can probably tell you how to make the lights do what you want. The wiring for the headlights is pretty easy. There's lots of options for doing things. Not that I have modified my headlights at all. LMAO.

walnuts, if you want this, when I come up to Rochester, I will do this modification for you in about 30 minutes. In short, what you have to do is to remove the headlight switch from the dash (if you need directions, let me know). Next, undo the 2 tabs that hold the switch itself to the outer casing and back the headlight switch out about 1/8" (not too far, just enough to not allow the tabs to re-engage). Wrap the headlight switch in a cloth and then remove the switch from the outer casing. You need the cloth as there is a spring loaded pin inside the switch that WILL!!!!! go flying if you do not have a way to trap it. From there, look at the case and you will see a ramp at the very bottom of the hole from where the headlight switch was. Cut about 30 degrees of the ramp off (as you are looking in the hole, so, you are going to be removing about 1/4" of plastic). Smooth out the plastic, spread the grease around a little bit, slide the headlight switch back into the case, and reinstall the headlight switch. Tada. All done.

I would place more money on the COPs being bad on those cylinders over getting some mechanical failure on those 2. Unless he is getting low compression numbers, I would start with the COPs. #4 is the known problem child and #7 gets more than its fair share of abuse because of the EGR tube running essentially right above it.

walnuts, you know as well as I do, new COPs by no means says that they will not fail. How many horror stories have you heard about guys replacing all of their COPs just to have 2 or so of them go out again in a year or two?

Same here. I might be trying one as well after seeing this thread. Really makes it easier than it actually looks.
