I opened the console up today to retrieve my missing items, and it actually only took 5 minutes to open. All you need is a T-20 Torx bit and a couple of Nylon pry tools (Available at Harbor Freight Tools, Walmart, or Amazon). Remove the Trim panels on both sides, remove the 2 screws and Latches from underneath the armrest, then gently pry up the top cover and you don't even need to unplug the open/close switch wiring. It probably only takes 3 minutes to snap it all back together and reinstall the 2 screws.

In my experience those little white (and sometimes green and sometimes yellow) compression clips on those tabs often come off and find themselves falling into the various compartments. I ordered a package of like 25 of them on Amazon just to have around for maintenance activities like this. One of the worst is the center channel speaker cover, that thing has four of them and about 25% of the time they come off and fall into the dash.
