How to remove trim piece

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to remove the trim piece that is behind the rear quarter window on each side of the vehicle? They appear to be aluminum and on mine the paint is flaking off, i would like to pull them and repaint them. Hopefully I described the part corectly. I have included a picture of the part.
