My 2022 Expedition will be my last vehicle unless it gets totaled in a wreck. A friend of my wife bought a Jeep hybrid in Tampa this past weekend. Has a range of 25 miles on battery power. She paid a lot more money for the hybrid. There went a lot of extra money down the toilet. I just don’t understand these people buying these vehicles. I guess Im to old 69 to understand this generation No matter how I try.
You sir, have a super human bladder.Whatever hybrid they can come up with, I'd love a hybrid expy or nav that could net me 600+ miles of range.
Eventually, we'll see more PHEVs on offer in this vehicle segment. Just need the prices of the batteries to come down. The Ram Charger is a first shot across the bow. I'm sure Ford and GM will respond, especially since demand for full electric half-tons isn't growing the way they anticipated.I'd take an Expedition energi. I'd appreciate a bit more than 25 miles of electric range, though. If it's as fast as my Mach E, that would be almost criminal. Something that big shouldn't be so fast! But I hope it will be.
As I get closer to retirement, it would be nice to get closer to having one car, and a Mach E can never be an only-car, whereas an PHEV Expedition could be.
Living in California, I find it much easier and faster to find some random farmer's field when nature calls. You sir, have a super human bladder.
I don't completely get the hybrid trend (I'm in my late 20s), but on those F-150s that hybrid 7.2kW ProPower on board is really awesome if you camp off grid a lot.My 2022 Expedition will be my last vehicle unless it gets totaled in a wreck. More power, better mpg, and silent running at low speeds. What's not to like? PHEV with 30+ mile range on electric can cover over 90% percent of driving for some people and running on electric is a fraction of gas when charging at home. Electric driving is over 3X more efficient, plus you retain all the capability of a non-hybrid. And, as you noted, for those of us with campers we can run them off the truck...no portable generator needed.Living in California, I find it much easier and faster to find some random farmer's field when nature calls.

I like what stellantis did with the ram charger too. I'm sure the wagoneer will get it on its mcr. A hybrid rid woth 26+ mpg and a better interior and air ride option will give me there business but the ram charger/new ram is by second option honestly, I love what they did to the exterior
Most of the hybrid benefit is attained in local stop and go driving, because the electric motor can get the vehicle up to speed while the ICE engine stays off or near idle to maintain coasting speeds, and can be powered down when decelerating. On the highway where you're traveling at higher, steady speeds, the electric motor won't provide much of a benefit. There's no regen and the battery is too small to provide motive energy. The other advantage of the PowerBoost is acting as a generator for camping, house backup, etc.He drives all highway miles in Northern, WI, so in this condition its absolutely not worth it. Plus WI has an additional license fee to pay annually for the Hybrid, so that's also lost. he said it had more power on demand if you hammered it, but he wasn't impressed enough to pay for that again.
