I have a couple Intech 5.4 engines and information is scarce online. I found a nice post with lots of pictures here about one of these engines. Ford says pull the engine to remove the heads, the post here shows the heads coming off with the engine still in the Navigator. The Navigator forum is for people that buy new cars every three years, not people that keep them 20 and rebuild them.
Most of the stuff online is for Mustangs and high performance builds. I have a 2003 Navigator with one of these engines. I bought this 03 to replace an 06 we bought in 07 and got destroyed in July by an uninsured driver. The car did its job and kept my wife, son and daughter alive and well when it could have been much worse.
