My truck is there now, the guy called me back with trouble codes 781 and 782.

He said it would be $495 to disassemble the transmission to further diagnose it and that fee would go towards the final labor costs.

Should I do it or no? Let me know asap, thanks guys.

Hmm... from my rudimentary information that I have, po781 code might be a 1-2 shift issue and PO782 code related to a 2-3 Shift issue. Those sound pretty generic. Something in my gut has been telling me your issue is more electronic related than mechanical, but I don't have the savvy to back that up with. Let's see what the more proficient members say.

Yep, that's what the mechanic said. But I'm not sure about any electrical issues, he came back to me with those codes.

So, what should I do? Have them go ahead and do it or take it somewhere else?

Are you having problems in those gears, remember they get paid by the job not the hour. Tranny job pays good Im sure.

I'm not having problems with the gears it's just that the over drive light is flashing and it's not going in to overdrive so I guess?

Either way, the only reason it's in the shop is because of the leak and the flashing light.

Man if you dont use your overdrive then I wouldnt, or atleast get a second opinion. $500 is alot of money for something that you dont know whats wrong with it.

I may have missed this in the other thread - but you said you were going to top off the fluid and see if that made any difference..?

I would pull the pan, take a look at possibly pulling the valve body out and at least change the trans filter and fluid, solenoid may be very easy to swap, never done one in an expy trans though, google the procedure and see what you think bud.

My mistake, I meant to say it's not shifting IN to over drive. It's stuck with the over drive off.

I can't keep driving it like this...

Take it home and do a trans service ( fluid and filter ) if you are still getting the codes then it may very well be a solinoid pack wich for the 4r100 is about $200 + new oil. The solenoid pack controls all upshifts in the 4r100 so more than likley its a combo of nedding a service and possibly a bad solinoid.

DO NOT LET THEM PRESSURE YOU INTO ANYTHING THE PEOPLE AT AMMCO ARE SNAKES!!!!!! Those codes are not major issues!!!!!!

As long as the trans is not "slipping" when it is upshifting then your clutches are fine and more than likley it is just going to be an electrical issue.

Plus you are not getting a code for week line pressure so that rules out pump. There is no reason for them to disasemble anything!

what he said ^^^^^^^^^^

drop the pan and change the filter and put the proper fluid back in... while the pan is out check for metal shavings and if there is brass shavings that is verry bad...

Also what settings did you change on your Edge as far as shifting goes? Try putting it back on the stock "factory" tune and see if the issue goes away.

Everything on the programmer was set back to factory settings when the problem first initiated. I guess I'll do what you guys said this weekend, drop the pan, clean the filter, and flush out and replace the fluid.

If it ends up not working, do you think the solenoid would be the next step? If so, is it a DIY kind of thing, or would I need to take it some where?

Once again, thanks for all the help. This sucks, I miss driving my truck.
