I believe if you search this site, you will find a description of this already posted.

I have accomplished this by simply removing fuse #14 (interior fuse box, and probably model year related), but I do not have the need very often. If you need to this every day, then a switch near the rear hatch is a better option.

Again, search this site, and you should find it. If you can't, I'll try to put something together for you.

Thanks for the reply, I searched the site and saw people that had ideas on how to do it. But no real discription (ie. color of wire, placement of switch, etc...). I have a year 2000 Expy, I use it for tailgating and taking the kids to the drive-in. With three little kids I much prefer the drive-in so they can make all the noise they want, if you know what I mean. Thanks a lot for all your help.

When you open the hatch, the part that locks the hatch when it's closed you can use your finger and slide it over until it locks. This will turn off the interior lights. Then when your ready to go, before you close the hatch, simply turn the handle as if you are opening the hatch and the switch will open and you can safely close the hatch. I just traded my 2000 Expy for an 04 so I would have done it and given better details then I just did I hope it was enough to answer your question.
